OMÉ Montessori frameless floor bed with mattress 160 × 80 cm – Lime Sorbet
A child’s own bed is a familiar place to return to after a busy day, look through books and gradually settle down for sleep. The OMÉ Montessori floor bed combines an accessible height, soft frameless construction and considered design. An included mattress and removable cover make it a practical choice for several years of childhood.
Lime Sorbet — natural colour with character
Warm yellow-green with olive undertones, Lime Sorbet brings colour to a child’s room while maintaining a calm overall feel. The ribbed fabric catches the light at different angles, revealing the depth of the shade and emphasising the bed’s rounded contours.
The curved headboard and gently lowered sides create a balanced silhouette. Low proportions keep the room feeling open and place the bed comfortably within a child’s reach.
OMÉ works particularly well in Scandinavian minimalist and nature-inspired interiors. Pair Lime Sorbet with pale oak, warm white walls and textiles in linen and sand tones. Muted blue or soft pink accents introduce a more individual touch. As your child grows, bedding, books and lighting can change around the bed.
Independence starts with being able to do it yourself
The Montessori approach supports independence through an environment adapted to a child’s abilities. Once children have developed the necessary movement skills, a low sleeping surface allows them to get into and out of bed by themselves.
Its accessible height also encourages participation in everyday routines: straightening a blanket, putting pyjamas away or preparing for a bedtime story. These small, manageable tasks help children develop a sense of responsibility for their own space.
For parents, this means creating a room where children can gradually take more initiative, with support close at hand.
A place for sleep, books and quiet moments
The 160 × 80 cm sleeping area provides space for nighttime sleep and daytime rest. A soft headboard and gently enclosing shape create a welcoming setting for picture books, conversations and winding down.
In a smaller bedroom, the bed can also serve as a reading corner, leaving more floor space available for movement and play. A low bookshelf nearby helps create an organised rest area that children can use independently.
The included mattress simplifies the purchase, bringing the bed and its intended sleeping surface together.
Soft construction without a rigid internal frame
The OMÉ bed body is made from high-density, flexible polyurethane foam, without a traditional wooden or metal internal frame. Rounded, upholstered edges and a soft headboard reduce the number of exposed hard components around the child.
Its low position makes the sleeping area easier to reach and reduces the distance to the floor. Together, these features support a room arranged around a child’s size and everyday movements.
Position the bed according to the manufacturer’s instructions and prepare the surrounding room for independent access.
A removable cover for everyday practicality
The ribbed cover is made from 100% recycled polyester. Its textured finish gives the bed visual depth, while the removable design makes cleaning more manageable.
Being able to wash the cover is a meaningful advantage for furniture used every day. It helps maintain the bed’s appearance over time, while recycled fibre gives existing material a new use.
Hand-wash the cover at up to 30°C. Treat small marks with a soft sponge, water and a mild cleaning solution, following the care label.
Quality credentials with a clear purpose
The model’s published material and manufacturing specifications list:
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 — testing of textile materials for harmful substances.
CertiPUR-US® — certification of the foam against specified content and emissions requirements.
ISO 9001 — a quality management system for manufacturing.
Each credential covers a distinct area: textiles, foam or the management of production processes.
Compact delivery and straightforward preparation
The bed arrives vacuum-packed in a package measuring 135 × 35 × 35 cm. This compact format reduces the space required for transport and makes the package easier to move into the home.
No conventional frame assembly is required. After unpacking, prepare the bed according to the enclosed instructions and allow the foam to recover its intended shape and volume. This may take up to approximately 48 hours.
A sleeping space for children up to approximately 10 years old
The 160 × 80 cm sleeping area can accommodate several stages of childhood, from the early years into primary school. The approximate upper age is 10 years, depending on the child’s height and individual comfort.
As a child approaches around 140 cm in height, it is worth considering when a longer bed may be needed. At this height, a 160 cm sleeping surface provides approximately 20 cm of additional length. The most useful guide is whether the child can stretch out and change sleeping position comfortably.
